Madonna Frammentata

The idea of the “fragmented Madonna” if referring to a modern representation of the traditional sacred figure, dismembered in its symbolic components (face, hands, body) and deprived of its iconographic integrity. This fragmentation can be interpreted as a reflection on the loss of a unified spiritual reference and human weakness in interpreting the contemporary. These paintings explore the idea of the human figure through fragmented representation, both physically and symbolically. The use of contrast between vivid red and deep black creates a visual tension that emphasizes the isolation of the figures. The fragmentation of the figures in these paintings is not only physical but also emotional and symbolic. In the context of the iconographic tradition of Renaissance Madonnas, the figure of the Madonna represents a symbol of purity, motherhood and protection. However, in these works, these elements seem to dissolve: the bodies appear incomplete, the poses do not communicate serenity, but rather a state of suspension, isolation, or even inner suffering; they do not merely represent the iconographic figure, but are used as a means of exploring universal questions related to identity, faith, and suffering, inviting the viewer to reflect on his or her own existential condition
